MY ROLE
My role during the development of this game was mainly as a 2D Artist. I worked on backgrounds and most objects you will encounter while playing.
I was also part of the early development, in the role of storyboard artist and writer, and in the making of promotional graphics and trailers for all the different platforms during the post-production.
Although it’s a four-year-old project, I still hold it as one of the best experiences I’ve worked on, as I have learned a great deal as part of the development team.

Storyboard
In the early development, my task was to compose a storyboard to outline the plot of the game and figure out how large the world would become.
Concept art
Some of the early concept sketches I did to present the idea of the type of environment we wanted for the setting.
The game takes place on a deserted island littered with lush vegetation and hidden ruins, remnants of an ancient civilization that worshipped monkeys.
For this reason, we wanted a lot of natural light and earthy colours to be predominant, opposite to blues and purples for underground locations.
Designing the UI
Some of the several iterations I made for the main UI elements.
A point-and-click game like The Monkey Pit Island doesn’t require many buttons and panels: the most important interaction the user is going to have is with the in-game world. For this reason, it's critical to limit distractions.
We chose to build most of the main UI elements out of objects that the character would have on a deserted island.
