Skylands --- UI/UX Design / 2D Artist
Skylands is an unpublished resource management and strategy mobile game where you try to expand your influence over a steampunk world of made flying islands.
In a post apocalyptic future where your planet has long been destroyed and all that are left are floating debris, you and your army of tiny people will have to use your energies to prosper.
For this project I was tasked with designing the UI as well as the entire appearance of the game. This offered unique freedom as for style choices.
I wanted to create a colorful and quirky steampunk reality coupled with a simple and readable UI.
Everything in this project is still in the early phase of development, all the content may change.
Part of the early exploration for a possible UI layout.
Some of the first assets I created as I was looking for interesting styles to apply to the game.
To reinforce the idea of a world where the most valuable resources are metallic scraps and oil, I wanted to make the UI chunky and thick, but still friendly and fun.
I decided not to use curves, but mostly gentle, nonthreatening edges paired with bright colors.
